Play BookPrograms and Plays have properties that you can assign to them. This collection of program and play properties is referred to, collectively, as the "Playbook." The Playbook allows you to manage all of your properties, as well as the property values in the dropdown lists.
Managing Your PropertiesProperties are divided into two types: program properties, and play properties. To display a list of each type of property, click the corresponding "Property Type" tab at the top of the screen. The following tasks are available to manage your properties:
Adding PropertiesTo add a new property, select the Program or Play property tab. Click the "Add" button. Landro takes you to the "New Property" screen.
Enter the property name. Create a new dropdown list, or select an existing dropdown list (see Dropdown Lists). Click "Save" to save the new property.
Dropdown ListsA dropdown list is a list of choices that are assignable to a property. For instance, the "Semester" property might have a dropdown list containing the values "1," "2," and "3." When a user clicks on the "Semester" property, a dropdown list will pop open and allow the user to select one of these three values. To edit a property's dropdown list, select the property of interest. Click the "Dropdown List" button. Landro takes you to the "Dropdown List Editor" screen.
You may Add, Rename, or Delete values from the list. You may also reorder the values in the list by selecting a value and then clicking the "Move Up" or "Move Down" buttons. Click "Done" to finish editing the dropdown list. Editing PropertiesYou can edit the name or dropdown list associated with an existing property. However, the following issues should be considered carefully:
To edit an existing property, select the property you wish to edit and click the "Edit" button. Landro takes you to the "Edit Property" screen. To edit the property name, click "Edit" next to the property name, accept the warning message, and type your changes to the property name. To change the associated dropdown list, click "Edit" next to the dropdown list, accept the warning message, and select a different dropdown list. Click "Save" to save your changes. Removing PropertiesTo remove an existing property, select the property you wish to remove and click the "Remove" button. Confirm the removal of the property. The property will be added to your Non-Playbook Properties. Non-Playbook PropertiesThere are instances where a program may have property data that is not included in your playbook. For instance, you might restore a backed-up program that contains program properties that have since been removed from your playbook. These properties are called "Non-Playbook Properties." They are still valid properties, since the information is still assigned to the program, but they are properties that are not part of your playbook. Non-playbook properties are still available for filtering and analysis, but they cannot be assigned to new programs or plays. In short, non-playbook properties are always visible (so they are not lost), but only playbook properties can be assigned to programs moving forward. When you remove a playbook property (see Removing Properties), the property is removed from your playbook and added to your list of non-playbook properties. By doing this, no data will be lost, but the property can no longer be used for assigning data in the future. You may also remove non-playbook properties. When doing this, you will permanently remove this property information from all of your program files, and the property will no longer be available in any way. To manage your non-playbook properties, click the "Show Non-Playbook Properties" link on the playbook screen. Landro will display the non-playbook property list.
The non-playbook property list has the following tasks available:
Playbook ViewsWhen using program or play properties for filtering or breaking down, it is often convenient to hide some of the properties, or some of the property values in a dropdown list. For example, suppose you had beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes. Students in the beginning class might be confused by advanced terminology when adding play information. In order to display only the properties and property values appropriate for that class, you could create a playbook view. A playbook view is a subset of properties and property values (dropdown list items). Additionally, the order the properties appear on the screen, and the order of the items in a dropdown list can be changed for each playbook view. This gives you the flexibility to have one master playbook, but have separate playbook views tailored to different groups of users. The default view of your playbook is called "Entire Playbook," and automatically contains all of your properties. Properties and property values can be rearranged, but they cannot be removed from this view. You can think of the Entire Playbook view as the "master" view of your playbook. In addition to the Entire Playbook view, you can create as many user defined views as you like. To manage playbook views, click the "Edit Views" link on the playbook screen. Landro will display the playbook view controls.
To create a new playbook view, click open the "View" dropdown list. Click the "Configure List" button at the bottom of the list. Landro will take you to the Playbook View Manager screen.
Click "Add" to add a new view. Enter the name of the view.
Click "OK" to create the new view. To add a property to a view, click the property in the "All Properties" list to select it.

In the above example we can see that only two properties, "Basic Counseling Skills" and "Opening Skill" are used in the "Class 100" view. To manage the dropdown lists for views, click the view property (on the right) to select it. Click the "Dropdown List" button. Landro takes you to the "Dropdown List Editor" screen. Add or remove dropdown list items for the view.
In this example you can see that only two dropdown list items are used for the "Basic Counseling Skills" property in the "Class 100" view. |
